KAUST Accelerates Scientific Research with 67 Projects in AI, Cybersecurity, Bioinformatics
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has boosted its scientific research with 67 promising projects in artificial intelligence (AI), bioinformatics, and cybersecurity, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
These projects and initiatives were primarily driven by KAUST’s bold vision to provide Saudi students with an integrated educational system based on advanced technology and international standards.
The university has been completely committed to the Saudi Vision 2030 and thus commenced a wild journey to build a strong generation capable enough to face the future challenges with comprehensive knowledge and advanced skills.
KAUST Academy Training Program

KAUST Academy training program celebrated the graduation of its second cohort this year. This four-stage program provided virtual courses to over 7,000 students from Saudi universities in the initial phase.
The second and third stages were dedicated to delivering intensive, in-person courses to more than 2,800 participants.
Prestigious Scholarships

In the final phase, 200 exceptional students were chosen for internal and external scholarships, including six international universities:
- University of Glasgow in Scotland
- University of Oxford
- Broad Institute
- University of Toronto in Canada
- Duke University in the United States
- KAUST
Strategic Partnerships
In collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Authority, NEOM, and various private sector entities, KAUST has empowered students to acquire the advanced skills necessary for conducting promising research projects within the realms of AI, bioinformatics, and cybersecurity.
Director of KAUST Academy Professor Sultan Albarakati explained that such programs reflect the academy’s strategy to build several partnerships with universities and educational institutions in the Kingdom.
Bold Objectives

Albarakati shed light on the main objectives of the academy as follows:
- Fostering the technical skills required for the job market
- Preparing an excellent Saudi workforce
- Offering tailored training programs for university students and early-career professionals
- Strengthening their academic and professional development through concise and intensive courses in AI, machine learning, and data science
- Providing various accreditation programs, diplomas, and partial master’s degree courses
