THIQAH, KAUST Present Revolutionary Research Paper at ArabicNLP 2024

THIQAH Company has participated in the Arabic Natural Language Processing Conference (ArabicNLP, 2024) held on August 16, in the Thai capital, Bangkok, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

THIQAH has presented a research paper written in collaboration with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to develop new criteria for evaluating the capabilities of language models in understanding and separating legal complexities.

The research has a great significance in light of the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies and the dire need to create new tools capable of understanding different natural languages.

Thankfully, the new study is anticipated to boost the use of the Arabic language in scientific research and developing artificial intelligence applications to completely meet the needs of the Arab world.

ArabLegalEval

The bilateral study developed a new benchmark data set called “ArabLegalEval,” designed basically to evaluate the capabilities of large language models in understanding legal texts in Arabic. This achievement represents a real revolution in the field of linguistic research, as it will foster the performance of language models and develop more intelligent applications.

New Standards

During the conference, THIQAH reviewed the new standards outlined by the study, and the expected changes in evaluating the performance of artificial intelligence systems which deal with legal texts.

The new standards will provide developers and researchers with an unprecedented opportunity to evaluate their models’ ability to understand complex legal terminology, extract relevant information from long legal texts, and answer legal questions with high accuracy.

The research paper is part of THIQAH’s memorandum of understanding with KAUST signed in December to launch a transformational journey aimed at revolutionizing industries and unlocking the potential for digital solutions.
