Education Min. Congratulates Leadership on Saudi Universities’ Top 1,000 Global Rankings

Twelve Saudi universities ranked among the top 1,000 global universities in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking, highlighting a significant achievement for the Kingdom’s higher education system.

Mr. Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council of University Affairs, congratulated King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He also thanked them for their unwavering support for both the education system and higher education.

Improving university rankings is a key goal of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the Human Capacity Development Program. Moreover, this aims to enhance the education and research system and place Saudi universities among the best worldwide.

He also noted that the Council of Universities Affairs, with support from the wise leadership, continuously works with the higher education system and relevant entities to ensure universities excel in research and education.

Human Capital Development Index

 

King Saud University is now ranked 90th globally, surpassing the Human Capital Development Index target of Saudi Vision 2030.Moreover, in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking, Saudi universities are positioned as follows: King Abdulaziz University and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology are in the 201-300 range, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is in the 301-400 range, King Khalid University and Taif University are in the 401-500 range, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz University is in the 601-700 range, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Qassim University, and Umm al-Qura University are in the 701-800 range. Additionally, King Faisal University is ranked 801-900, and Jazan University is in the 901-1000 range.

Finally, the Shanghai Ranking is a key global ranking that uses precise criteria to evaluate universities. This includes research, educational outputs, and faculty efficiency.
