KACST, US research bodies co-operate to establish joint centers in emerging technologies
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) signed some cooperation agreements with US research and academic bodies to establish centers of excellence in emerging technologies.
The official delegation of the Kingdom to the US was headed by His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the city, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha.
KACST’s president, Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud Al-Desouki, explained that the partnership with the world’s leading research and technology centers comes within the official visit of the Kingdom’s delegation to the US.
The technology centers aim at consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a regional center for research, development, and innovation, achieving the Kingdom’s 2030 vision of transferring and localizing emerging technologies, empowering national cadres, and strengthening strategic partnerships with research and academic bodies.
The supervisor of the joint centers of excellence in the city, Dr. Maryam Noah, stated that the joint centers of excellence program are working to strengthen cooperation with international research and academic bodies to meet the needs of the vital strategic sectors in the Kingdom by seizing the promising opportunities in emerging technologies and their localization to promote the growth of the national economy.
