Israel-Hamas Hostage Deal: PMs of Belgium, Spain , Egypt’s President Hold Press Conference

Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said, in a press conference in Egypt, that a temporary ceasefire is a good thing but having a permanent ceasefire is the final goal. Egypt’s President Al Sisi held a press conference  in Cairo, Egypt Friday with the Prime Ministers of Spain and Belgium. The Conference was held today, Friday, which is the same day the Israel-Hamas hostage deal is set to take place at 4p.m.

Belgium’s PM Remarks

 

During the conference, De Croo stressed that it is necessary to deliver more humanitarian aid to Gaza, adding that delivering more aid requires opening crossings on the Israeli side and not just on Egypt’s side.

The Prime Minister thanked Egypt’s President Al Sisi for Egypt’s role in evacuating Belgians in Gaza.

“We thank you for your support to evacuate 100 Belgians from Gaza. You have played a pivotal role during the crisi”.

President Al Sisi’s Remarks

 

Proceeding from the two countries support for Gaza, Egypt’s president Al Sisi thanked Spain and Belgium for their stances regarding what is happening in Gaza.

“I express my appreciation and respect to your stances,” said Al Sisi.

The president stated that over 30 years the international community should have recognized the Palestinian state.

He pointed out that the truce aims to deliver more aid to Gaza, as there are more than 2.3mln people in there. These people need a lot of aid following what happened since October 7.

Finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian Cause mirrors the responsibility of the international community and those interested in establishing peace in the region, stated the Egyptian president.

“ This attack should not repeat every five years, resulting in casualties,” added the president.

In response to the Belgian Prime Minister’s statement, Israel has recalled its ambassador to Belgium.

Israel-Hamas hostage deal started today, Friday, at 4 p.m.

50 hostages are set to be released over the four-day truce.
