Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein recalled that Iraq had previously hosted meetings between Saudi Arabia and Iran, pointing out that “these meetings are continuing.”

He said: “It is known that the Saudi-Iranian meetings are continuing, they have a desire to reach positive results to solve the outstanding problems that exist between the two parties.”

He added: “Iraq has always been a mediator between the various countries of the region, and it played a diplomatic role during this stage, and it has positive relations with all the neighboring countries.”

Iraqi President Barham Salih announced that “Baghdad hosted more than one round of dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Iran during the last period.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh previously confirmed that “Tehran is ready to hold talks with Saudi Arabia at any level, and the countries of the region and both countries will witness the result of these talks.”

There is a great tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran due to many sharp differences, especially the war in Yemen, and there have been no official diplomatic relations between them since 2016.
