Iraq, Jordan Reopen Airspace to Air Traffic

The Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority announced on Sunday the reopening of Jordanian airspace to air traffic after suspending it for hours, following Iranian missile and drone strikes on Israel.

On the other hand, the Civil Aviation Authority in Iraq announced the reopening of Iraqi airspace to all aircrafts.

Yesterday evening, Iraq and Jordan decided to close their airspace to all incoming, departing and transiting aircraft, temporarily and as a precaution “in light of the increase in regional tensions in the region.”

Iran launched attacks in which hundreds of drones and missiles from its territory towards Israel, and said that they were in response to the bombing of its consulate in Damascus.

On its part, the Israeli airport authorities announced the reopening of Israeli airspace at 7:30 am today, Sunday, 04:30 GMT, according to Reuters.

The authorities said that flight schedules from Tel Aviv are expected to be affected, adding that travelers should check flight times.

This comes hours after an unprecedented attack carried out by Iran during the night with hundreds of drones and missiles on Israel, which lasted for about 5 hours. It is the first direct attack of this kind launched by Tehran against Tel Aviv, about two weeks after the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed launching an attack with “drones and missiles” on Israel in response to the bombing that targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus last week, which was attributed to Israel and caused the death of 16 people, including members and two leaders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
