Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Adopts Latest Tech, Cuts Carbon Emissions by 66%

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority confirmed that the results of using drones contributed to reducing carbon emissions by 66%, and increasing the vegetation cover from 1.4% in 2018 to 8.5%.

It was clarified that the latest technologies are being used to reduce carbon emissions and achieve the targets of the Saudi Green Initiative by decreasing reliance on fossil fuel-powered SUVs and replacing them with drones. Additionally, this aims to enhance environmental protection efficiency, facilitate access to rugged areas, and spread seeds over large areas.

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve, spanning an area of 91,500 kilometers is implementing the largest project of its kind for environmental protection and monitoring. This project also involves the use of 40 drones, which has enhanced the monitoring of violations such as illegal woodcutting and overgrazing, significantly improving the efficiency of environmental security and protection teams. Additionally, it includes the training of dozens of environmental monitors and patrols.
