Happened in This Day, Saudi Arabia Was Among the First Countries That Signed the United Nations Charter
Today, June 26, marks the 75th anniversary of the Kingdom’s signing of the United Nations Charter, which took place in 1945 in San Francisco, USA.
The late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed the Charter on behalf of the Saudi Kingdom, as the Kingdom is one of the first countries to sign the Charter that entered into force in October of the same year.
The Ministry of Human Resources republished a picture showing the moment where King Faisal signed the Charter, indicating that the Kingdom has a distinguished history of adherence to covenants, human rights, and international treaties.
It is noteworthy that the first meeting of the United Nations General Assembly was held in the British capital, London, on January 10, 1946, in the presence of representatives of 51 countries.
