French ambassador to KSA delivers a speech on the occasion of the French National Day
French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, François Goyet, thanked yesterday the French National Day celebrations:
“The 14th of July is a traditional holiday that must be celebrated, despite the health restrictions,” he said.
The ambassador praised the excellence of the French-Saudi partnership and its successes, based on the rich and ancient relationship that binds the two countries.
He mentioned that the first French Consulate opened its doors in Jeddah in 1839. A year before the Kingdom’s unification, a friendship treaty was signed in the name of the President of the French Republic and His Majesty the King of Hejaz, Najd and other regions in 1931.
The trusting relationship has led to a unique collaboration and numerous projects.
The French ambassador praised the French-Saudi university cooperation, which graduates hundreds of students every year. The accomplished Saudi doctors represent this distinguished partnership.
“We want to open up new areas of academic cooperation in education and research, especially in the cultural and creative industries, for example, cinema and video games. I am glad that there was a large Saudi delegation at Cannes,” Goyet added.
The ambassador stressed that the strategic partnership between the two countries raised expectations in the economic sector. He thanked all the sponsors who contributed to organizing this national holiday.
Goyet said that the Kingdom and France share the same vision of regional and global challenges. He stressed that France stands by the Kingdom in all forums.
The French ambassador praised the good Saudi presidency of the G20. Throughout the year, with the support of France, Riyadh brought the international community together to face challenges.
Goyet concluded his speech by saying: “I am proud to welcome you in France alongside my colleagues, friends, ambassadors and my fellow citizens. After I visited the Kingdom, I saw the love of the Saudis to France, its culture and its language.”
Long live France, long live Saudi Arabia, and long live the French-Saudi friendship.
