First Quarter Moon of Shaban Seen over Northern Borders Region

The first quarter moon of Shaban was observed yesterday in the skies of the Northern Borders Region, showcasing a stunning celestial display with its right half illuminated. The sight captivated astronomy enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Astrophotography specialist Adnan Al-Ramdoun highlighted that this lunar phase provides an excellent opportunity to observe the moon’s surface details. Sunlight casts dramatic shadows on its craters and rugged terrain, enhancing visibility through telescopes and binoculars.

He noted, “The Northern Borders Region boasts minimal light pollution, making it an ideal location for observing celestial events, including the moon’s phases, planetary movements, and stars. This unique environment attracts astronomy enthusiasts and astrophotographers eager to capture these rare moments.”

The first quarter phase marks the moon’s completion of a quarter of its orbit around Earth, with half of its surface illuminated. This phase will continue until the moon transitions into the waxing gibbous stage in the coming days.
