Saudi Arabia’s leadership has extended condolences to Sweden over a mass shooting incident that resulted in causalities, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
On Thursday, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a cable of condolences to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
King Salman strongly condemned the criminal act, extending his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the Swedish King, the families of the victims, and the people of Sweden, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
Similarly, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, sent a separate cable of condolences to Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf.
The Crown Prince strongly condemned the attack. He also extended his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to King Carl XVI Gustaf, the families of the deceased, and the Swedish people, wishing the injured a swift recovery.
On Tuesday, a gunman opened fire at an adult educational center in the city of Örebro in central Sweden, in what has been described as the worst mass shooting in Sweden’s history, reported CNN.
The shooting left 11 people dead, including the suspected gunman, and injured many others, according to the police. Sweden’s public broadcaster SVT has identified the attacker as Rickard Andersson, 35, although the police has not formally named him.
“At the moment, the police believe that the perpetrator was acting alone, but we cannot rule out more perpetrators connected to the incident,” the police said in a statement.
