Egypt is looking forward to reaching a binding agreement in the GERD crisis: Al-Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that his country is looking forward to reaching a legally binding agreement on the GERD as soon as possible and “without further delay”, in line with the presidential statement issued by the Security Council last September, he said.

The dam project that Ethiopia is building on the banks of the Nile raises the concerns of Egypt and Sudan, while Addis Ababa says the water project is necessary to provide electricity to millions of Ethiopians.

In a recorded speech broadcast on Sunday during the launch of the Cairo Water Week, Sisi added that Egypt has drawn up an integrated strategic plan for managing and developing water resources until 2037, with an initial estimated cost of $50 billion.
