The Diriyah Center for Arts of the Future is currently introducing a month-long series of events delving into the large impacts of technology on art world, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
“Art Should Be Artificial: Horizons of AI in Visual Arts”
The events are part of the center’s ongoing exhibition, “Art Should Be Artificial: Horizons of AI in Visual Arts,” which highlights the pivotal role of AI and robotics in contemporary artistic practices.
Through several workshops, talks, and sessions, the activities will offer a valuable platform bringing together artists, researchers, as well as the public to engage in conversations about the intersection of art, science, and technology.
“Building Robots”
“Building Robots” will be the centerpiece of the December programming under the leadership of Louis-Philippe Demers, a renowned artist specializing in AI and robotics.
Set to take place on December 20, the event will serve as a prestigious platform for Demers to shed light on his innovative approach to performance art. In addition, there will be a special focus on how machines and humans interact creatively.
Clearly, Demers’s work usually challenges the boundaries between art and technology, offering new glimpses into the future of creative expression.
“Interactive Geometric Formations”
The series will also boast another symposium titled “Interactive Geometric Formations,” by Saudi artist Lulwah Al-Homoud.
Set to take place on Dec. 21, the event will explore Al-Homoud’s use of Islamic art, mathematics, as well as digital technology as key elements of her creative practice.
Moreover, her work mirrors how traditional artistic disciplines can be enhanced by modern tools, which greatly bridges the gap between heritage and innovation.
Movable Robotic Avatars
Demers will also organize a two-day workshop over Dec. 20-21, to teach participants how to create movable robotic avatars.
Therefore, participants will get a deeper understanding of how robotics can be incorporated into creative projects.
