Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in IGAD summit
On behalf of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, participated today in the IGAD summit at the leaders’ level. The summit is held in the Republic of Uganda.
El-Khereiji delivered a speech in which he expressed the Kingdom’s position in strengthening Saudi-African relations, reported Saudi Press Agency.
Thereby the Kingdom will reinforce its ties with African countries and the member states of the IGAD organization.
El-Khereiji emphasized the Kingdom’s utmost commitment to preserving the unity of Somalia and Sudan and the integrity of their territories. Preserving their unity would contribute to maintaining security, stability, and integration in the region.
The Deputy Minister stated that the Kingdom’s stance on the Sudanese crisis is to maintain the unity of Sudan, the integrity of its territory, and to preserve the state institutions and the resources of the Sudanese people.
He also lauded the Kingdom’s partnership with the IGAD organization and the African Union regarding the current situation in Sudan.
Solution to Sudan Crisis
His Excellency clarified that the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration and the commitment to protecting civilians in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights principles are the ways to resolve the current crisis in Sudan.
He noted that the Kingdom sees that Jeddah platform and the results it has achieved enjoyed Sudanese and international support. Therefore, this encouraged the resumption of the Jeddah 2 talks with the participation of a representative from the African Union and the IGAD organization.
