CST Unveils 21 Participants in Second Cohort of Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox

The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) unveiled that 21 local and international companies have participated in the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox’s (ETS) second cohort, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

CST announced that the second cohort companies are employing several emerging technologies in their products, including:

  • The Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Digital Twin
  • Space Technologies
  • Augmented reality/virtual reality/extended reality (AR/VR/XR)
  • 3D/4D printing.

These companies create innovative solutions for various sectors

  • Telecommunications
  • Industrial sector
  • Health
  • Energy

The sandbox has set the following objectives:

  • Creating a flexible environment for launching innovative business models or solutions
  • Supporting entrepreneurs and innovators
  • Promoting the emerging technologies industry
  • Boosting the comprehensiveness of market products Addressing regulatory challenges that hinder the service providers and facilitating their access to the local market

The sandbox is part of CST’s initiatives aimed at providing a safe and flexible environment to foster the innovation in emerging and space technologies.

At the end of last year, CST announced the completion of the participation of eight products within the first batch of companies participating in the experimental regulatory environment for emerging technologies.

The program targets all concerned investors and companies in order to achieve promising results.

These efforts stand as a testament to CST’s commitment to adopting new services, promoting the digital economy, achieving regulatory flexibility and maturity, strengthening cooperation between government agencies, and maintaining the protection of users.
