Consultative Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza

Saudi Arabia hosted a consultative ministerial meeting in Riyadh Thursday to discuss the developments of the Israeli war on Gaza.

Outcomes of Consultative Meeting

The ministers stressed the necessity to end the war on the Gaza Strip and achieve an immediate and complete ceasefire, as reported by Al Arabiya.

Moreover, they affirmed the importance of protecting civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law and lifting all restrictions that impede the entry of humanitarian aid into the sector.

They expressed their support for UNRWA, urging all its supporters to exert all humanitarian efforts to help the Palestinian refugees.

They also stressed the importance of taking irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution and recognize the state of Palestine along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, the six ministers affirmed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory. They strongly rejected all forms of forced displacement.

Meeting Attendees

Bringing together foreign ministers from five countries in the Middle East, the summit will discuss initiatives to end the war.

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani arrived in Riyadh yesterday to join the meeting.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi and UAE’s Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan joined the meeting in the Saudi capital.

Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Abdulkarim El Khereiji welcomed the ministers upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport.
