The announcement came after ANKER, a Chinese electronic accessories company, has unveiled the withdrawal of three models of external batteries (Power Bank) compatible with iPhone devices from the markets. ANKER stated that the withdrawal is basically due to a manufacturing defect that can result in fires due to overheating.

The company also indicated that these withdrawn devices are compatible with MagSafe technology for iPhones and include models A1642, A1652, and A1647.

Moreover, ANKER explained that the cause of defect is a certain malfunction of lithium-ion batteries in these portable chargers. This malfunction causes the melting of plastic parts, smoke emission, and fires while connected to devices during charging.

Therefore, the company strongly urged the users of these electronic accessories to cease usage and carefully store them to avoid accidents that could cause damage to iPhone devices or result in fire outbreaks.
