Blinken calls China out to be transparent on coronavirus origins
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called out China for greater transparency regarding the origin of the new coronavirus in an interview with HBO.
“There is a responsibility, but from my point of view, the most important thing is that we have to reach and understand what happened; this is the only way we can prevent a pandemic or at least deal better with it,” said the secretary.
Blinken added in the same interview that China “did not give us the transparency we need. Specialists from the international community arrived to share information as soon as it happened.”
It is reported that US President Joe Biden recently directed US intelligence to investigate the origin of the coronavirus pandemic after a report stated that several researchers at the Wuhan Institute felt ill in November 2019 and had to be transferred for treatment.
