ITU Unveils Global Alliance to Address AI Skills Gap

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) announced the launch of a new alliance aimed at closing the artificial intelligence (AI) skills gap. Backed by more than 25 organizations, the initiative seeks to promote inclusive access to AI education and training worldwide.

The alliance will offer a comprehensive online platform for AI training and capacity building, focusing on fostering equitable participation. It plans to train thousands of individuals in 2025, with an emphasis on regions at the early stages of adopting AI technologies. The program will cover areas such as generative AI and machine learning, emphasizing their role in advancing sustainable development.
