Saudi Ambassador to US Attends Trump Inauguration Ceremony

The Saudi Ambassador to the US, Princess Reema bint Bandar, represented the Kingdom at the inauguration ceremony of the US President, Donald Trump, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Conveying Saudi Leadership Congratulations

Princess Reema extended to Trump the congratulations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, on the occasion of his inauguration as the 47th President of the US.

Moreover, she expressed the Saudi leadership wishes for Trump to succeed in his second term in office.

Solid Saudi-US Relations

Princess Reema underscored the significance of the historical relations and strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the US. “As our two nations celebrate 80 years of friendship, it was my honor to convey our leadership’s heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to President Donald Trump and the American people on his inauguration,” she posted on X.

“The relationship between our two countries is historic and we look forward to continuing our work together for the benefit of both our peoples, our region, and the world,” the Saudi Ambassador added.

Trump Inauguration Ceremony

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the US. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Capitol Rotunda due to the extremely cold weather in Washington. The ceremony included an inaugural speech, a Senate luncheon and an indoor event at the Capital One Arena instead of the traditional presidential parade.

During his 30-minute inaugural speech, Trump said that “the golden age on America begins right now.” He added that “from this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world,” according to CBS News.

First Day Actions

Trump’s first day in office saw the signing of dozens of executive orders that reverse his predecessor’s policies on immigration, energy, trade, diversity policies and more.

These included orders for boosting border security, designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, limiting birthright citizenship, freezing new regulations and establishing a task force for reducing the size of the federal government, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Distinguished Guests

The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of notable guests, including four former US presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, in addition to current and former diplomats and Congress members.

Furthermore, top business leaders and tech CEOs attended the ceremony, including TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew; Tesla CEO and Space X founder, Elon Musk; Amazon.com Executive Chairman, Jeff Bezos; Google CEO, Sundar Pichai; Apple CEO, Tim Cook; OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman; and Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

A number of foreign leaders also attended the inauguration ceremony, such as Argentina’s President Javier Milei; Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni; and China’s Vice President Han Zheng.
