Trump’s Inauguration: How US President Will Celebrate Return to Power

The world is eagerly waiting for the inauguration of the US President-elect, Donald Trump, this Monday, as he returns to the White House to assume his position as the 47th President of the US.

The Inauguration Day features a number of events, including an official swearing-in ceremony, music performances and a parade. The Vice President-elect, JD Vance, will also be sworn in to assume his position.

This time, however, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Capitol Rotunda due to the expected extremely cold weather.

Indoors Inauguration Ceremonies

On Friday, Trump announced that his inauguration will be moved indoors due to the cold temperatures projected in Washington. “I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather,” he wrote on Truth Social.

The President-elect added: “We will open Capital One Arena on Monday for LIVE viewing of this Historic event, and to host the Presidential Parade. I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In.”

Early Celebrations

The celebrations of Trump’s inauguration start before the Inauguration Day, with parties and fireworks taking place over the weekend, according to the Associated Press (AP).

On Saturday, Vice President-elect Vance will host a reception for incoming Cabinet members, followed by a dinner in Washington. Furthermore, Trump will host a reception and fireworks show at his Virginia golf club.

On Sunday, Trump will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. After that, he will hold a MAGA rally at Capital One Arena, featuring music performances that will pay tribute to the attempted assassination of Trump in Pennsylvania. It will be followed by a candlelight dinner, where Trump is expected to speak.

Inauguration Day

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Trump and Vance will take the oath of office to officially begin their new administration. The day starts with a service at the St. John’s Episcopal Church. Then, Trump and the incoming first lady, Melania, will meet with the outgoing President, Joe Biden, and first lady, Jill, at the White House for tea.

After that, music performances will take place, followed by the swearing-in of Trump and Vance inside the Capitol Rotunda. Trump will give the inaugural address, outlining his goals for the next four years.

Next, he will head to the President’s Room, near the Senate Chamber, for a signing ceremony in which he signs key documents. Later, he will attend a lunch hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

Usually, this is followed by a presidential parade from the Capitol building down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. However, it will be held at Washington’s Capital One Arena due to cold weather.

In the evening, Trump will attend three inaugural balls: Commander in Chief Inaugural Ball; Liberty Inaugural Ball; and Starlight Ball. The President-elect will likely give remarks at the three events.

Who Will Attend?

The Inauguration Day is expected to draw 200,000 people, including Trump’s supporters, protestors, US Senators and House members, and high-profile guests, according to BBC. The list includes Trump, Vance and their families, as well as the outgoing President Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Moreover, former US Presidents, including Barack Obama, George W. Bush and wife Laura Bush and Bill and Hillary Clinton, will attend. However, former first lady, Michelle Obama, and former House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, will skip the inauguration.

The guest list also includes top business leaders, such as TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew; Tesla CEO and Space X founder, Elon Musk; Amazon.com Executive Chairman, Jeff Bezos; Google CEO, Sundar Pichai; Apple CEO, Tim Cook; OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman; and Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

Furthermore, the guest list includes foreign leaders, such as Argentina President Javier Milei, Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and China President Xi Jinping who will send Vice President Han Zheng.

Top Performers

The inauguration ceremony will feature musical performances by Grammy-award-winning singer Carrie Underwood; Country singer Lee Greenwood; and Opera singer Christopher Macchio.

Moreover, other singers will perform at the rally and the inaugural balls, including The Village People; Kid Rock; Billy Ray Cyrus; Jason Aldean; Rascal Flatts; Gavin DeGraw and rapper Nelly.
