The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) was elected as a member of the management committee of the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
With this remarkable milestone, the SFDA has become the first entity in the Middle East to achieve the distinction and joins seven international counterparts and eight representatives from global organizations.
This outstanding achievement stands as a testament to the SFDA’s pivotal contributions through its 42 technical experts from its team actively taking part in the council’s scientific committees.
It is worth mentioning that the ICH is the only global council gathers both regulatory authorities and leading pharmaceutical manufacturers to cooperate in addressing the scientific and technical aspects of pharmaceutical development.
To this end, the ICH develops guidelines, creates technical standards, as well as offers evidence-based requirements for the registration and production of medicines. In addition, its outputs represent a fundamental reference for evaluation processes worldwide.
With a bold goal to boost coordination among stakeholders, the council enhances effective dialogue on scientific topics and adapts to the rapid developments in global drug regulation and manufacturing on a global scale
