This effort by “Mawani” (Saudi Ports Authority) aims to boost the Kingdom’s Maritime Connectivity Index ranking, enhance port competitiveness, and strengthen ties with ports in the East and West. Additionally, it aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to make the Kingdom a global logistics hub and central link between three continents.
Moreover, the new shipping service connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with the ports of Mundra and Nava Sheva in India, and Umm Qasr in Iraq, with a capacity of 1,800 standard containers.
It is noteworthy that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam is the Kingdom’s main port on the Arabian Gulf, and is linked to the dry port in Riyadh by railway. It is also considered a primary port through which goods from all over the world pass to the eastern and central regions.
