U.S. Set to Approve NVIDIA Chip Exports to Saudi Arabia

The U.S. government is close to approving NVIDIA‘s export of advanced chips to Saudi Arabia, according to the Semafor news site. This will help the kingdom run powerful AI models and train its workforce in the field.

The American news site mentioned that this news was one of the “unofficial” topics that occupied some space in the discussions at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit held in the capital, Riyadh.

According to a source who spoke to the Semafor website, shipments of NVIDIA’s H200 chips, which are currently NVIDIA’s most advanced chips, are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia.

The Global Artificial Intelligence Summit continues today in Riyadh, where it launched its third edition under the supervision of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center. Moreover, the summit will run from September 10 to September 12, 2024.

The Global AI Summit brings together over 300 speakers and hosts a group of experts from 100 countries, making it one of the most prominent global summits in this field that specialists and enthusiasts around the world eagerly anticipate.

During the summit in Riyadh, specialists in artificial intelligence, policymakers, and tech CEOs gather to discuss AI frameworks and ethics. Consequently, their goal is to promote AI use to accelerate development and build a better future for coming generations.
