State of AI in Saudi Arabia: SDAIA Highlights 5 Years of Progress

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) issued a new report highlighting the progress achieved in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Saudi Arabia, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

During a press conference on the third edition of the Global AI Summit (GAIN), SDAIA President, Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, introduced the “State of AI in Saudi Arabia” report, which details the progress made in utilizing AI technologies in the Kingdom.

According to Al-Ghamdi, the report reviews the advancements in AI over the past five years (2019-2023), highlighting the global recognition for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in the field of AI.

Furthermore, the report discusses Saudi Arabia’s progress in 7 key pillars: policies and regulations, investment, infrastructure, data, talent development, research and innovation, and adoption.

The “State of AI in Saudi Arabia” report also underscores SDAIA’s leading role in digital transformation and advancing the national data and AI agenda, which includes enhancing AI adoption across government entities, raising public awareness, developing a robust strategy, and harnessing data and AI technologies throughout the Kingdom.

The report comes in line with SDAIA’s efforts to provide data-driven capabilities and promote innovation in AI to consolidate Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader among data-driven and AI-powered economies.

The report also serves as a reference for reviewing the latest trends and innovations in the field of AI and the Kingdom’s achievements in raising awareness and educating society on AI potential in serving humanity.

The Global AI Summit (GAIN) will take place on September 10-12, 2024 in Riyadh. It will feature more than 300 speakers, bringing together global leaders, experts, policy and system makers, and heads of tech companies from over 100 countries to develop ideas and visions which contribute to forging general frameworks and ethics that control the uses of AI technologies.
