Localizing Fifth Generation Industrial Networks
Saudi Aramco signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., to define preliminary plans for strategic cooperation aimed at localizing the industrial system for the fifth-generation technology in the Kingdom, starting with private networks.
The proposed cooperation aims to contribute to the digital transformation of the various industrial sectors in the Kingdom, such as energy, petrochemicals, and manufacturing.
Aramco will take advantage of the advanced 4G and 5G technologies. These technologies can provide secure, fast, and reliable communications to meet important business requirements in various industrial activities.
The two companies intend to help use advanced industrial 5G technology in high-critical communications. This follows the recent launch of Aramco Digital. It aims to accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom and the MENA region.
Aramco believes that digital transformation is of great importance in the future of the oil and gas sector.
Digital transformation increases efficiency and drives innovation and provides job opportunities and skill competencies in the digital field. The use of these technologies also reduces Aramco’s carbon footprint.
