Saudi Arabia to host World’s first Desert Polo Tournament in 2020

The first official Polo Tournament in Saudi Arabia to take place from 16th to 18th January 2020 under the auspices of the “Saudi Polo Federation” to become one of the main events of the “Tantura Winter” season which is an annual entertainment festival held in the old town of Al-Ula which is located in northwestern in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Saudi TV channel of Al-Arabyia, Al-Ula region, which has long been faithful to the secrets of civilizations in the Arabian Peninsula, is chosen as a magnificent backdrop to the events of this unique tournament in the Kingdom’s sporting and social journey.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that thanks to the joint organizing efforts between the Saudi Royal Commission for Al-Ula and the Saudi Polo Federation, this tournament has become one of the highlights of the (Tantura Winter Season) that extends from December to March.

In the same context, the President of the Saudi Polo Federation, one of the international sponsors of this game, Amr Zidan, said that this tournament is a celebration of the development journey in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and aims to promote this extraordinary event to attract sports talents interested in the game of young Saudis and to encourage larger sectors of our society to share this sport, according to Al-Arabyia TV channel.

Zaidan explained that the tournament contributes to introduce Al-Ula region to the world and give them the opportunity to explore great experiences in it, adding that the Kingdom has the organizational capacity and infrastructure to run such tournament.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate, Amr Madani, welcomed the addition of the “Al-Ula Championship for the Desert Polo” to the list of “Tantura Winter season”.
