The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority clarified the conditions for exempting scholarship students from customs duties.
The authority stated via the (X) platform that students on scholarships are exempt from customs duties and value-added tax on used furniture and personal belongings.
The “Zakat Authority” added that this exemption is conditional upon providing proof of the scholarship from the cultural attaché after the scholarship ends, noting that vehicles are excluded from this exemption.
This clarification came in response to an inquiry from a beneficiary who asked about the status of a student with a car in the United States and their desire to import it without paying fees.
