Minister of Finance sponsors the work of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Conference ‏

Mr. Muhammad Al-Jadaan the Saudi Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, sponsored recently in Riyadh the “Zakat, Tax and Customs” conference.

 

The conference was held under the slogan “An Integrated Digital System for Sustaining the Economy and Enhancing Security”.

A group of ministers, secretaries of regional and international bodies, experts, and specialists in the zakat, tax, and customs sectors participated in the conference.

During the period (08-09 February), the conference will discuss the most significant global and local experiences and developments in the sector.

It will also discuss the digital transformation that the system is witnessing, and the extent of the impact of modern technologies on creating a thriving digital economy.

Al-Jadaan speech

Al-Jadaan stressed that the conference came as an effort by the authority to transfer experiences and expertise, apply best practices, and benefit from development opportunities available in the zakat, tax, and customs sector.

Minister Al-Jadaan said: “The conference comes in light of the challenges facing the global economic development process, which necessitates strengthening efforts in all economic, social, and security fields.”

He added, “Development is continuing in tax administration and improvement in collection processes, through national efforts and initiatives, such as the National Program for Combating Commercial Concealment and other programs.”

The Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority reviewed the efforts made by the Authority, at the level of security, to take advantage of modern technology. By doing so, customs controls were tightened at all land, sea, and airports.

15 dialogue sessions and more than 50 exhibitors

It is noteworthy that the conference will witness the holding of 15 dialogue sessions and working papers, and more than 30 specialized quality workshops.

More than 50 exhibitors from the public and private sectors, representing entities related to the zakat, tax, and customs sector, will participate in the exhibition accompanying the conference.

Sessions will discuss many specific issues related to the development of the zakat, tax, and customs sector, and discuss contemporary visions and models in zakat and taxes.

As part of the conference, all activities related to customs work and customs ports will be discussed. This will enable us to design a joint pioneering business model and to document the digital transformation of the Customs system.

It is noteworthy that the “Zakat, Tax and Customs” conference constitutes a pivotal opportunity for a large number of officials and decision-makers in local bodies, institutions, organizations, and others to meet to discuss challenges, opportunities, and solutions.
