Trump Warns Israel against Destabilizing Syria after Deadly Attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to the US President Donald Trump on Monday after Trump’s warning against interfering in Syria, according to Al Arabiya.

“It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous State,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Demilitarization of Gaza

Both leaders discussed the demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of the Palestinian group Hamas. The PM’s office reported that they also explored Israel’s possibility of establishing ties with countries that do not recognize it.

Trump warned Israel earlier on Monday against any attempts to destabilize Syria or threaten its new administration. This warning came days after Israeli forces attacked Syrians in the south in a deadly operation.

Notably, Trump has been advancing a security pact between Tel Aviv and Damascus since the fall of Al-Assad’s regime in December 2024.

However, tensions have risen between both countries due to Israel’s subsequent attacks on Syria.

Deadly Operation

On Friday, an Israeli raid in southern Syria killed 13 people in the village of Beit Jinn with Syrian government accusing Israel of a “criminal attack,” according to Reuters.

The Israeli military announced that six soldiers were wounded, three of them severely, by militant fire during an operation to arrest them.

The raid represents one of the deadliest since the overthrow of President Bashar Al-Assad in December 2024.

Syrian American Relations

During the call with Netanyahu, Trump said he was “very satisfied” with Syria’s performance under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November.

Moreover, he noted that the United States was “doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended” to rebuild Syria that was torn apart due to the civil war.

Trump also invited Netanyahu to meet at the White House in “the near future,” without determining the exact date.
