The first Saudi artificial respiratory device has arrived
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia released last Wednesday the first industrial respirator manufactured in the Kingdom. According to what was reported by the official Saudi Press Agency, the following is a quick overview of it:
Specifications
- The ventilator PB56 type is a portable device and is widely used in-home care, health care centres, and hospitals for patients who do not need endotracheal intubation; therefore, it can be used at home.
- The respirator was manufactured following the highest international manufacturing standards in cooperation with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical devices since these are considered sensitive and life-supporting items.
- The device aims to help patients by providing a safe exchange of gases. Its selling requires obtaining the necessary approvals from the regulatory authorities, which is done by submitting many technical documents, studies and qualitative tests that confirm its safety and efficiency.
The device was released by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Industrial Development, Mr Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, and His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.
The ceremony counted with the presence of the Adviser at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr Abdullah Al-Rabiah, the Executive Director General of Health Affairs of the National Guard, Dr Bandar Al-Kenawi, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drug Authority, Dr Hisham Al-Jadhi.
