Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has sponsored the launch of the first autonomous hydrogen heavy-duty truck to support sustainable transport, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The initiative was rolled out with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, and in a partnership between Ismail Abudawood and Procter and Gamble Limited and Hyperview.
It aligns with the ongoing efforts to promote advanced technologies that drive sustainable transport. It is also a part of efforts aimed at supporting innovative solutions in the transport sector and harnessing modern technologies to develop transport and logistics systems and boost operational efficiency.
The new truck operates with zero-emission clean hydrogen energy, with the ability to refuel within minutes and an operational range reaching up to 1,500 kilometers, which makes it suitable for heavy transport and long-distance operations.
Moreover, the truck features multi-level autonomous driving capabilities and continuously updatable digital systems. It also comes in a smart design that relies on software and artificial intelligence (AI), supporting the development of modern transportation solutions and raising operational efficiency.
