Streamlining Rituals: Saudi Arabia Rolls Out Live Crowd Tracking Service at Grand Mosque
Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital service to streamline rituals for worshippers and pilgrims at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The Big Picture: In a tech-driven push, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque rolled out an electronic service that enables the Grand Mosque visitors to monitor real-time crowd flow in the Tawaf and Sa’i areas, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
How It Works: The new service provides live indicators and smart guidance. Easily accessible via a smartphone by scanning a designated QR code, the service allows visitors to view current congestion levels and choose the least crowded paths and optimal times to perform their rituals. Visitors can leverage the new service through the Authority’s official website as well as digital platforms to ensure a seamless, comfortable experience.
The Goal: The new service aims to streamline the performance of rituals at the Grand Mosque, providing a smooth spiritual experience for worshippers and pilgrims. The service aligns directly with the digital transformation objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes using smart technology to elevate the quality of services and accommodate the growing numbers of global visitors and pilgrims.
Between the Lines: Saudi Arabia boasts a high level of efficiency in crowd management, successfully maintaining order and safety at the Holy Sites in Makkah and Madinah during Hajj and Umrah peak seasons, receiving millions of pilgrims and visitors from across the world throughout the year. In order to provide an optimum experience, Saudi security forces and all relevant authorities work tirelessly, offering assistance and guidance to pilgrims, maintaining order at the Holy Sites, facilitating the smooth performance of rituals, and ensuring the safety of all those in attendance.
