Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has secured the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) 2024 as a recognition of owning the Best Integrated Communication System, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Represented by the General Administration of Institutional Communication, the award crowned the ministry’s media campaign, which coincided with a remarkable success in Saudi tourism sector.
In 2023, the Kingdom welcomed over 100 million domestic and foreign tourists, as certified by the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
The award was part of the 13th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2024) which highlighted more than 3,800 Arab and international participations from 44 countries, an increase of 230% over the previous year.
Launched by the Ministry of Tourism, the Saudi media campaign boosted the Kingdom’s position as a prestigious tourist destination, boasting exceptional cultural significance, geographical diversity and stunning natural beauty.
The campaign’s strategy depended on various traditional media, digital platforms and events to crystalize the Kingdom as a leading global travel destination offering breathtaking experiences and adventures.
“This campaign is not about numbers and views, it is about telling stories about our culture and heritage and showing that we are ready to welcome tourists from all over the world. With millions of tourists visiting, this recognition is a testament to our remarkable growth and progress in the tourism sector and our emergence as a major player on the global stage,” The Director General of Institutional Communication at the Ministry of Tourism, Majed Al-Hamdan said.
