SDAIA Launches Promising Data Centers, High-Capacity Technical Projects

Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi launched a number of technical infrastructure expansion projects and data centers in Riyadh today, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

These projects are the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia to boast an electrical capacity of up to 65 kilowatts per cabin.

The launch ceremony highlighted the presence of Director of the National Information Center Dr. Essam bin Abdullah Al-Waqit, and other SDAIA leaders and officials.

The new data centers aim at increasing the capacity and operational efficiency by enhancing highly efficient electrical and mechanical systems.

SDAIA has been firmly committed to promoting and developing sustainable data centers designed according to the best global practices and standards approved by the UPTIME Institute, the global authority specialized in evaluating and classifying data centers around the world.

Having established to drive the national agenda for Data & AI, SDAIA has intended to elevate the Kingdom as a global leader in the elite league of data driven economies.

Furthermore, data and AI are the cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, according to SDAIA spokesperson Majid Al-Shehry.

He previously said that the Kingdom aims to utilize AI through the development of a national AI strategy, that will boost the skills needed for the field.

Consequently, SDAIA has developed the National Strategy for Data & AI to accelerate the creation of AI-friendly ecosystems and supporting adoption of data analytics solutions.

The authority obtained the approval of the strategy from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on July 17, 2020.
