The Saudi Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, is leading the Kingdom’s delegation at SportAccord 2024, an event that gathers international sports federations and key figures in the sector.
The event, held in Birmingham from 7-11 April 2024, is attended by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Robin E. Mitchell, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Prince Turki, who is also the Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, is accompanied by the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, as well as CEO and Secretary General of the committee, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Baeshen.
SportAccord is a global sports event organization based in the Olympic Capital, Lausanne, Switzerland, and governed by stakeholders representing the Olympic and non-Olympic International Federations.
SportAccord 2024 gathers more than 1,500 delegates from over 100 countries. Under the theme of “The Power of Sport,” the event will hold high-level meetings, an energetic exhibition, and a conference program.
The president of SportAccord, Ugur Erdener, acknowledged the role and power of sports. He said ahead of the opening of the conference on Monday, “Sports is an essential method for keeping peace all over the world.”
SportAccord Managing Director Martin Gibbs hailed the event, saying “There is no other event where you find in one place so many International Federations, the International Olympic Committee, rights holders, cities and regions as well as sports business leaders.”
On the sidelines of the convention, several workshops focusing on topics such as sports and health, hosting mega events and sports legislation will be held.
