Saudi Arabia will implement daylight saving time in all public and private schools beginning Sunday, April 6, 2025. The move is in line with Vision 2030 goals to enhance operational efficiency and adjust schedules to accommodate seasonal changes in daylight.
This change coincides with the resumption of classes for the third academic term following the Eid Al-Fitr holiday. Several regional education directorates, including those in Riyadh, Asir, Al Baha, and others, have confirmed the update.
In Riyadh, the General Administration of Education has announced that the morning assembly will begin at 6:15 AM, with the first class starting promptly at 6:30 AM. This schedule will remain in effect until June 26, 2025.
Regional Variations in Start Times
Schools in Asir will adopt a slightly different schedule. Morning line-up will occur at 6:45 AM, with classes commencing at 7:00 AM. In the Al Baha region, assembly will start at 7:00 AM, followed by the first class at 7:15 AM.
Education authorities across the Kingdom encourage schools to strictly follow the revised schedule. They stress that punctuality and discipline are crucial for maintaining an effective learning environment.
The Ministry of Education urges families to support students during this transition. Parents should ensure timely attendance and foster academic focus as the school year approaches its conclusion.
This shift to daylight saving time marks a significant change in the educational landscape of Saudi Arabia, promoting better alignment with natural daylight and optimizing the school day’s effectiveness.
