Saudi Royal Air Forces: Where The Sky has no limit

 

As one of the leading forces of the Saudi armed forces, the Royal Saudi Air Force is considered to be one of its cornerstones.

 

The Air Force performs tasks including supplying ground forces with supplies, conducting search and rescue missions in both peace and war, and airlifting injured individuals to safe areas.

 

The Saudi Air Force conducts operations to transfer airborne forces and their supplies to the battle area. They conduct intelligence operations and preserve national interests by protecting Saudi airspace from any aggression.

 

It contributes significantly to the country’s various sectors during natural disasters, as it is assigned many tasks.

 

Moreover, they perform a crucial humanitarian function in the case of evacuating the sick and injured, when other means of transportation are unable to reach them.

 

Planes of the Saudi Air Force transport aid that Saudi Arabia contributes to countries when crises occur.

 

The Air Force plays an instrumental role in transporting VIPs, both civilians, and military, on its aircraft equipped for this purpose.

 

It provides daily mail flights for transport planes, which members of the military forces and their families are entitled to use. This allows them to move freely within Saudi Arabia.

 

The Royal Saudi Air Force progressed through several stages in its history until it reached its current form.

 

It was known as the Hejaz Air Force of the Kingdom of Hejaz, which was established after the Great Arab Revolt in 1916.

 

After the fall of the Kingdom of Hijaz and its annexation of the Sultanate of Najd, the planes and pilots of the Hijaz Air Force entered the Najd Hijaz Air Force of the Kingdom of Hijaz and Najd and its appurtenances.

 

The Air Force was formed in the mid-twenties of the twentieth century by royal order from King Abdulaziz Al Saud.

 

The Hejaz Najdi Air Force was annexed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932. The name of the Air Force was changed to the Royal Saudi Air Force.

 

The Royal Saudi Air Force was very modest in terms of numbers and equipment. In 1950, the Royal Saudi Air Force was restructured and annexed to the Ministry of Defense, after it was an independent force.

 

In 1952, the Air Force began receiving modern aircraft from the United Kingdom and the United States.

 

In 1974, the name of this force was changed to the Royal Saudi Air Force. Since then, the Saudi Air Force has begun to develop, grow, and participate in the most prominent conflicts in the Middle East.

 

The Saudi Air Force has a number of educational facilities, most notably King Faisal Air College and the Institute of Technical Studies.

 

The Saudi Air Force has a variety of military facilities for its missions. These are King Abdullah Air Base in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz Air Base in Dhahran, King Fahd Air Base in Taif,

 

Military facilities include King Faisal Air Base in Tabuk, King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, King Salman Air Base in Riyadh, Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj, King Saud Air Base,

 

 

There is also a military facility in King Khalid Military City, and a historical museum of the Royal Saudi Air Force in the capital, Riyadh, called the Saqr Al-Jazira Aviation Museum.

 

12 commanders succeeded in commanding the Royal Saudi Air Force with its various titles, the first of whom was Lieutenant General Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Tasan with the title of Director of the Air Force.

 

The current commander of the Air Force is Lieutenant General Turki bin Abdulaziz, who has held this position since February 26, 2018.

 

The Royal Saudi Air Force currently has approximately 1,106 aircraft, 40,000 active personnel, 23,000 enlisted personnel, 9 wings, 38 squadrons, and a Special Forces unit dedicated to combating search and rescue.
