Saudi Public Security: SR50,000 Fine for Failure to Report Overstay Violations

Saudi Public Security has urged citizens and residents to report visit visa holders who overstay their permitted period, warning that failure to notify authorities of a visitor’s departure after visa expiry may incur fines of up to SR50,000 and imprisonment for as long as six months, according to the Saudi Gazette.

Saudi authorities also stressed that sponsors who fail to report a visitor’s overstay may face strict legal penalties, including deportation for non-Saudi residents.

The General Directorate of Passports has recently issued statistics showing 19,559 administrative decisions against citizens and residents for violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations in Rajab.

The penalties, issued in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, involved imprisonment, fines, and deportation.

The Passports Directorate called on citizens, residents, and business owners not to transport, employ, or shelter violators of residency, labor, and border security laws.

Moreover, concealing offenders or assisting them with housing, work, or transportation represents a serious offense.

The directorate also urged public cooperation in reporting violators, assuring that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality and that informants will not bear any liability.
