The General Directorate of Passports (GDP) announced their readiness to welcome Umrah pilgrims at the Kingdom’s border crossings for the year 1446 AH, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
GDP stated that all the Kingdom’s land, sea and air crossings are fully equipped with qualified professionals and modern technologies to facilitate the arrival and departure procedures.
After the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the beginning of issuing Umrah visas from June 21, all authorities concerned with Hajj and Umrah pilgrims started to ramp up their preparations.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is collaborating with the Ministry of Interior and relevant government agencies through all air, sea and land ports in the Kingdom to efficiently facilitate the entry procedures for pilgrims from various countries around the world.
SDAIA will provide numerous services in various ports including Mecca, Madinah, Eastern Province, Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, Najran, and Jeddah Islamic Port.
These ports contain all primary and backup communications circuits, operated by a number of national competencies in SDAIA to provide necessary technical services.
Furthermore, the authority is providing technical support 24/7, implementing preventive maintenance for data rooms, network devices, and workstations, and activating the traveler system which increases the speed of transferring data for pilgrims to accelerate their entry procedures.
SDAIA has also installed multiple stations for capturing and recording biometric features at the Kingdom’s ports.
Moreover, it equipped mobile bags with biometric recording devices and backup systems to maximize the smooth procedures for all pilgrims.
