Saudi palm trees have accompanied the people of AlUla in their social and economic journey throughout their long history, being an integral part of their heritage and culture. Today palm trees accompany them on their journey towards becoming a global tourist destination, as palm farms have become a destination for tourists from all over.

Cultivating Saudi palm trees and date production receives significant attention from the Royal Commission for AlUla. It supports farmers and develops farms in which more than two million palm trees stand tall. Its annual date production exceeds approximately 90 thousand tons, reported News 24.

Oasis of Saudi Palm Trees Attract Visitors in Ramadan

Palm oasis receive great popularity during the blessed month of Ramadan, especially during Iftar and Suhoor times. It attracts both locals and visitors who enjoy the outdoor atmosphere, stunning nature, and designated seating areas. Various images captured by the Saudi Press Agency “SPA” depict these oasis, stretching over an area of 10 thousand hectares.

Annual Saudi Dates Exports

The Kingdom achieved a remarkable milestone in the global market, with its annual date exports experiencing a significant 14% increase, reaching a total of 1.4 billion Riyals. This accomplishment underscores the country’s dominant position in the date industry.

Soaring Global Date Market

The global market value for dates reached an unprecedented level of $29.4 billion in 2023. Forecasts predict this thriving market to expand from $31 billion this year to $49.1 billion by 2030. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 5.7%.

The positive image of dates as a healthy fruit and an ideal sugar substitute has fueled this growth. Moreover, dates are one of the oldest and most famous foods in the Arab world and the Middle East, supported by a rising trend towards healthy snacking.
