Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced that it has successfully completed its preparations for Hajj 2024, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Under the supervision of the Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the ministry has recently ramped up preparations to support and implement all the security plans designed to facilitate Hajj 2024.
The ministry has formed a Hajj Supervisory Committee to bear the responsibility of preparing, planning, and supervising all tasks assigned to various sectors within the ministry.
Headed by the Director of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, the committee will ensure that all pilgrims are safely and easily performing their rituals.
Furthermore, the Ministry has employed all its military and civilian human energies, medical and health cadres in the Holy Sites, Mecca, and Madinah to serve the Guests of Allah in collaboration with the Armed Forces and other sectors.
Ministry of Defense Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the ministry are:
- Providing security support to the Ministry of Interior in implementing the general plan of maintaining order and security during Hajj 2024
- Preventing any incidents that might threaten security of the pilgrims
- Closely observing the courtyards of the Grand Mosque
- Managing the airspace of the holy sites
- Monitoring the flow and movement of crowds to and from the holy sites
- Operating 24/7 flights by helicopters
Moreover, the Ministry of Defense supported the Ministry of Health by fully equipping a number of fixed and field hospitals and emergency centers to provide health care and treatment services to the guests of Allah.
It also provided medical evacuation aircraft to transport critical cases to hospitals.
According to the plan, the ministry will be hosting employees, children of Saudi and Yemeni martyrs and wounded, and pilgrims from more than 20 countries. It prepared numerous camps for them in Mina so that they can perform their rituals with ease and comfort.
The Ministry’s plan also includes hosting scholars and sheiks to deliver sermons and lectures to spreading awareness among pilgrims and distribute letters and brochures that explain and clarify the Hajj rituals.
