Saudi king offers condolences to Erdogan after Turkey earthquake

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sent a telegram of condolence and sympathy to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was for the victims of the earthquake that struck the Republic, and the resulting deaths, injuries, and missing persons.

 

The Saudi monarch sent a telegram of condolences and sympathy to the Turkish president in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey, and northern and western Syria.

The king said: “We learned of the news of the earthquake that struck the south of the Turkish Republic, and the resulting deaths, injuries, and missing persons, and we send to your Excellency, the families of the deceased and the brotherly people of the Republic of Turkey our warmest condolences and sincere sympathy.”

He added: “We assure you that we stand and support you in this painful event for all of us, and we ask Almighty God to cover the deceased with the abundance of his mercy and forgiveness, and to inspire their families’ patience and solace, and to grant the injured a speedy recovery, wishing the return of the missing safely, and that you will not see any harm.”

Early Monday morning, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, and according to the latest data, at least 2,000 people were killed and more than 10,000 injured.

There were also reports of damage in several Syrian regions, and earthquakes were felt in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The number of victims in Syria has now reached more than 1,000 people, and more than 1,500 others have been injured.
