Saudi FM, PLO Leader Discuss Strengthening Palestinian Support

Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian leadership have taken significant steps to bolster their cooperation and support for the Palestinian cause. In a recent phone call, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke with Hussein Al-Sheikh, the newly appointed Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

Enhancing Bilateral Relations

The conversation between Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Hussein Al-Sheikh focused on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena. Both leaders explored ways to strengthen joint efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people. This discussion comes amid continued Saudi diplomatic engagement to push for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

On Tuesday, the Saudi Cabinet emphasized that regional security depends on accelerating efforts to resolve the Palestinian question. The Cabinet stressed the importance of adhering to international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, including the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Condemnation of Israeli Actions in Gaza

Additionally, in a separate statement before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Saudi Arabia’s representative, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Nasser, denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza. Al-Nasser highlighted the need for the court’s opinion to compel Tel Aviv to allow humanitarian aid into the territory. He emphasized that Israeli forces have created inhumane conditions in Gaza, killed over 200 UNRWA staff, and targeted the agency’s offices and warehouses.

The recent discussions and statements highlight Saudi Arabia’s dedication to backing the Palestinian cause. The country is steadfast in its pursuit of a just resolution to the Palestinian issue. Through strategic diplomatic efforts, Saudi Arabia actively engages with the international community. This engagement aims to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people.
