Saudi FM, Jordanian Counterpart Discuss Regional Developments in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, met in Riyadh on Monday with, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, according to the Saudi Gazette.

The two ministers reviewed the Saudi-Jordanian relations and explored new avenues to strengthen cooperation across all sectors, in line with the directives of their respective leaderships. They also discussed the latest regional developments.

During the meeting, both ministers reaffirmed the solidarity of their kingdoms in confronting Iranian aggression targeting them and several Arab states, rejecting what they labeled as a blatant violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness.

They also emphasized their support for all measures aimed at preserving the sovereignty and security of states in accordance with international laws and conventions.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.

Iran has been responding with a retaliatory counterattack in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as a retaliatory move, while launching barrages of missiles and drones toward Israel.

The conflict has spread across the Middle East, leaving thousands dead, triggering unprecedented disruptions to energy supplies especially after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Prince Faisal and Safadi also discussed recent developments in Syria and Palestine and stressed the need to halt Israeli violations, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as support efforts to boost security and stability.
