Saudi Envoy Addresses UN Security Council on Palestine

Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, delivered the Kingdom’s statement at a United Nations Security Council session on “The Situation in the Middle East, Including the Palestinian Question,” held under the auspices of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Ambassador Alwasil stated that Saudi Arabia recently signed the accession document to the Peace Council, led by the United States under the chairmanship of President Donald Trump, in support of its role as a transitional body in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2803.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s call for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in all its phases and provisions, as well as the opening of border crossings to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Alwasil emphasized Saudi Arabia’s rejection of Israel’s grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law, condemning the targeting of the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the obstruction of its operations.

He stressed that achieving a just and comprehensive peace requires consolidating the ceasefire, preventing forced displacement, rejecting any attempts to divide Gaza or undermine the unity of the Palestinian territories, and ensuring a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
