Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce has banned the use of symbols and logos of countries and religious and sectarian symbols, Saudi Gazette reported.
The Minister of Commerce Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi explained that the decision aims to avoid the abuse or misuse of these symbols and logos.
Therefore, institutions that use these symbols and logos for commercial purposes shall have penalties in accordance with the regulations.
Crucially, when the decision enters into force, the authorities will implement legal procedures in line with the provisions of the punitive regulations related to municipal violations on the erring commercial establishments.
It is worth mentioning that the punitive measures will come into force 90 days after its publication in the official gazette.
Consequently, commercial establishments will have enough time to prepare for the implementation of the new procedure.
The decision follows another procedure stipulating the ban of using Saudi Arabia’s flag and pictures of the leadership and officials and their names in commercial transactions, including “printed materials, goods and products, media bulletins, special gifts, and others.”
