Saudi Civil Aviation Authority intends to nationalize jobs
The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the launch of an initiative to localize jobs for the air transport sector, which aims to localize 10,000 jobs in various disciplines related to the aviation sector that comes within the axis of strengthening the aviation sector, which is one of the goals of achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The initiative to nationalize jobs in the air transport sector also aims to promote aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative comes within the national employment plan in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
The initiative included the localization of 28 professions specialized in the field of air transport and approval of the distribution of targets according to the developed operational plan for the three years (2021, 2022 – 2023).
In this regard, the authority has directed all airlines, maintenance and operation contractors and service providers working at all airports to start implementing the initiative, indicating that work teams are designated to monitor and follow up on the implementation of the initiative on a monthly basis and to prepare and submit reports.
The authority stated that the initiative is the result of cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Office of the National Employment Plan in the public and private sectors. The initiative aims to localize several jobs, including the professions of pilot, flight attendant, air traffic controller, supervisors, flight yard coordinators, ground services, cargo handling, aircraft catering, and other professions related to the air transport sector.
