Saudi Arabia’s Aramco has achieved significant progress in its plan to expand gas production with the launch of production at the Jafurah field, the largest unconventional gas field in the Middle East, and the commencement of operational activities at the Tanajib Gas Plant, one of the largest gas plants in the world. The Saudi energy giant plans to increase its sales gas capacity by a massive 80% before the year 2030, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Furthermore, this ambitious strategic expansion will generate fifteen billion dollars in additional operating cash flows for the company by 2030.

Company President and CEO Amin Nasser stated, “We are proud to commence production at the Jafurah field and begin operations at the Tanajib Gas Plant. These are major achievements for Saudi Aramco and the future of energy in the Kingdom. Our ambitious gas program is expected to become a key source of profitability.”

He thanked King Salman and the Crown Prince for supporting these exceptional projects that actively serve Saudi Vision 2030 goals.

Powering Future Economic Growth

Moreover, the vast Jafurah field holds exactly 229 trillion standard cubic feet of raw gas and many valuable liquid condensates. Additionally, the newly integrated Tanajib Gas Plant officially started processing operations during December to handle output from offshore oil fields.

Consequently, these innovative facilities create thousands of jobs while driving Saudi Arabia to achieve strict climate goals by year 2060. Aramco continues diversifying the national economy today.
